As part of the environmental education program of Praia Ambiente, a municipal company of Praia Vitória, Ecosapiens approached our team with the purpose of developing a didactic game.
This game wants to arouse the interest of children to increase their knowledge about the selective separation of recyclable waste and about the 3 Rs in general.
That way, a part of the game simulates the selective separation of recyclable waste and organic waste. The other part is a quizz with questions about the 3 Rs (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle).
The client developed the game flow as well as the illustrations. Portugal Multimedia was responsible for developing the game that can run on any browser or device.
The goal is that the user can correctly identify each residue and place it in the correct dustbin.
On the treadmill are visible various waste, corresponding to organic waste, paperboard, glass, metal, plastic and batteries. The user has to identify the type of waste and drag it to the corresponding dustbin.
The game has two levels (easy and advanced) in which the speed of the treadmill varies. At the end of each level, the user is invited to answer to a quizz about the 3 Rs. In addition, the user may discover curiosities as they separate the waste correctly.
The game is ready to run in any browser and device.
The game is embedded on the website of the municipality of Praia Vitória. So, Portugal Multimedia has used technologies that allow its playability in any device, fixed or mobile.
That way, it’s possible for any child to enjoy the game, not only on the computer, but also on their smartphone or tablet, promoting environmental education habits even when young people focus so much on technology.
